MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY SOCK KNITTING

Little Mac has been under the weather (I have no idea what that means) but he’s been sick.  He had to wear his “sick blanket” to keep warm.  I just had to have his picture since the blankey had a snowman on it.  Mac wasn’t happy and I look like some kind of nut case.  (I guess the truth hurts.)
Finished ANOTHER pair of socks today.  They were knit with Happy Fuzzy yarn and the stripes were Shelridge Farms.  I love the feel.  The Happy Fuzzy yarn is just that.

Merry Christmas to all.

A COUPLE OF FINISHED PROJECTS

Another pair of socks finished.  The pattern is from SPIT (sock princess in training, Kristen.)  Isn’t that a great thing, I got the pattern from SPIT.  She may soon take over my title and I’ll kindly let her have it.  She’s knitting socks like a pro.
May have already shown the other photo.  Those are my fingerless mittens knit with my first handspun yarn.  Any guesses as to how long it took me to spin that stuff?  It takes longer than you think when you’re just re-learning spinning.  I’m so proud of those mittens.  Mike was freezing the other night and wore them to read the paper.  Wish I had a pic of that.
Well if the White Death doesn’t get us tomorrow, I’ll see ya later.

I SAW GRAMS KISSING SANTA CLAUS

Every year I take a photo with Santa to send to my girls in California.  They always get a good laugh and are truly amazed that I’d do such a thing.  This year it will also go to baby Michael.  He might as well get used to a crazy Grams.

NEW SOCKS

Just finished this pair of socks.  Worked up really fast, only about 4 days of knitting.  As usual, I don’t know the yarn or the pattern.  Will admit I got the pattern out of book, don’t know which one.  I did alter it a bit, I used a rolled cuff.  I’ll also admit it was by accident, I forgot to knit the cuff first.  Don’t worry about me and my memory, old age does that to you.

A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND YOUR YARN MONEY

If you’ve never been to The Wool Girl shop online, you don’t know what you’re missing.  I love that place.  Not only can you get great and different yarns but when the package arrives it’s like your birthday.  The yarns are wrapped in fun tissue paper and tied with matching bows.  You always get an extra treat or two.  This shipment the treat was a Christmas mitten filled with candy and and also a small bar of handmade soap. You just have to check out this site.  Shipment is also very fast.
That’s about it for today, just wanted to enable a little.

I’M TAKING IT WITH ME

I have the most wonderful bathroom door in the entire world.  Pretty it is not, but wonderful it is.  Pictured are the two girls that started the entire door thing.  When K.K. was about 1 year old, she decided to paint the bathroom door with colored markers.  Not to be outdone, her twin, Morgi joined in. To save the two from punishment (which would have been a good talking to) I grabbed a pen and joined in.  The next year my Miss Makena wanted to write on the door, so of course I let her.  We’re waiting for Michael to get big enough to contribute to the art work.  Several years ago K.K. wanted to know what I was going to do with the door if we moved.  My response, it’s going where I go.  I wouldn’t think of painting my door or replacing it.  Everytime I see it I think of my girls when they were so tiny and knew not to draw on walls but just couldn’t resist it.  Bet my door tops any door around.
A lot of knitting going on but I don’t seem to be getting any place.  I’ve decided not to think I have to have these done by Dec. 22.  We head to Palm Springs on that date.  I’ll probably be knitting when Santa shows up.  We’ll just have a glass of wine (cookies and milk for him) and I’ll teach him to knit.
Happy holidays all.
Sorry about the pic of my Makena-seems the flash covered her face.  Take my word for it, she’s a doll.

SURPRISE

Just finished this fun hat yesterday.  The Knitwits all seemed to love it (or they were totally amazed that I finished a project other than socks.) Either way, it was fun and fast to knit.  The only bad thing about the project was that the button costs more than the yarn.  I got enough yarn for $6.50 to knit two hats and the button was $8.50.  It’s a cute button though.

If you don’t hear from me for a few days it may be because I’ve injured myself.  I’m taking a needle felting class tomorrow at the Merc.  Mike almost fainted when I told him.  He’s prepared to call the squad when I come home with bleeding fingers.  I’m not good with sharp things.  Wish me luck and that’s all folks.

ONE MORE PAIR

Just finished another pair of socks.  I actually know the pattern and yarn for this pair.  I used Socks That Rock heavy weight Crazy Lace Agate on size 3 needles.  The pattern was Slippery Socks (you slip many stitches)  I finished them in about three days.  They are really prettier than the pic shows. Bright blues, yellows and oranges.
That’s all from here for today.  Exciting wasn’t it????

STUCK IN A RUT

People often want to know how many pairs of socks I knit. I really have no idea but I did clean out the sock drawer and came up the ones pictured.  I think we counted 50 or so and I know I’ve given away way too many to friends and family.  I may be stuck in the sock rut but I do love knitting socks.  I’ve heard that knitting is supposed to relax you.  Knitting socks does that for me.  Give me a sweater to knit and I need extra meds that day.  Knitting lace, forget it, I need to be admitted to the nearest hospital.  Thank goodness that’s just across the river.  No, give me my little socks, no worry, no frogging, just plain old fun.  I guess I should also mention that I have to knit with DP’s or I also need more meds and a drink and the two don’t mix well.  I am giving the toe up sock a try on circs.  It’s fun so far.  I’m doing it only because for the life of me I could not cast on toe up on dp’s.  I’ll let you know how that goes.  See, I’ve managed to get myself  all nervous and upset just thinking about circs.  Oh dear me, back to my little socks and my dp’s.  Ahhh, now that’s better.
Just a little happy note about my baby Michael, he pulled himself up yesterday all by himself.  He still refuses to crawl but I guess he can learn that after he walks.  I know he needs to crawl for motor control, etc. but with all his little problems we’ll be happy with  walking first.  Keep your fingers crossed for him.

MEET CHARLES

Charles has been in the family for a long time and volunteered to wear the hats I just finished for baby Michael.  Thanks to Charles for being a good sport.
Also pictured are the Hill Country Sock Club socks.  I love the color and the pattern.  Great sock club.
