PROGRESS IS BEING MADE

I did it—I opened that darn box.  It was a tramatic experience but I did it.  Just took that box cutter and cut that sucker right open.  Believe it or not, nothing jumped out at me.  I did find many pieces of wood, lots and lots of bolts and screws and an instructioin book.  Yes folks, an instruction book that has about 85 pages in it.  Poor Mike!!!  He’s promised to help me get this little thing together this weekend.  I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he suddenly has to work Saturday and Sunday when he sees all the pieces and the size of the instruction book.  Fear not—by this time next month I’ll be spinning along like an old pro.  (pro what I have no idea)  By the way, the instruction book is in the top drawer of the Hoosier cabinet.  When I can’t find it all of you know where it is.  Feel free to remind me.

Knit like the wind knitters, I am.

I KNOW YOU’VE ALL BEEN WAITING

I just know you can hardly wait to see my new wheel.  Well folks, here it is.  I haven’t had the nerve to take it out of the box.  I can just imagine thousands of pieces of wood and wire that must somehow  be connected to make a wheel.  It might not be too much of a problem if I read instructions.  Oh no, not me, lets just jump right in there and see what we end up with.  Who knows, I may invent a wheel that has never been seen before, I may get rich, I may be laughed out of town.  I’ll keep you posted on the progress.  Tomorrow I may  put the box cutter by the box.  The next day I may even open the box.  Then again, I may not.

Keep knitting friends.

ANOTHER PAIR OFF THE NEEDLES

Another pair of socks finished.  I really like them, they’re simple but have a little flash at the top.  Now hold on to your needles, I actually know what yarn I used.  I used Opal cotton and of course, I doubled it.  The yarn calls for tiny little needles so I ignored that, doubled it and used 3’s.  I’m getting pretty good a doing what I want with the yarn.  I only have a few disasters along the way.  Beth M, don’t say a word.

Also decided to start a little shoulder scarf to take when Mike and I go out to eat.  I usually freeze.  I’m doing it in Maggi cotton, a bright pink and size 7 needles.  I was going to do something fancy along the edge but the yarn is bumpy so it looks fine just being plain.

Back to the scarf and another pair of socks that I just started.

Keep knitting!!!

AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL-SOME MORE THAN OTHERS

I’m pretty sure there will be a contract out on me when Connie sees this.  Several of us had dinner one night after the Knitters Connection.  We had a great time (before my meltdown) and I swear this was the only drink Connie had.  Now Aunt Gerry, I can’t vouch for that. ( Gerry knit the lovely sweater she has on) She and Beth G. kept the barmaid on her toes.  Only kidding ladies!!!!! Sure I am.  The KC was fun but the most fun was hanging out with all the knitting buddies.  The Market came in second.  I’m still afraid to add up all my purchases.

The Ashford Kiwi arrived right at dinner  last night.  No way could I sneak it in the house as Mr. Mike answered the door when UPS arrived.  I decided telling him I won it wasn’t going to float so I just told the truth.  Again, sure I did.  Well, almost the truth. Told him I was going to sell my other wheel and put the money toward the new one.  He accepted that (poor guy) and didn’t even ask if I remembered how to spin.  He’s a jewel.  I’ll post pics when I finally take the kiwi out of the box.

Enough for today.  Connie, forgive me.  Keep on knitting!!!!

MY LITTLE DUDE IS REALLY A DUDE

Just had to show you this pic of my little dude Michael.  Can’t see his face too well but he’s very happy being at Toys-”R”-Us.  Grams wanted to buy everything in the store but mom and dad reminded me that the dude is only three months old and can’t play with much.  Next I’ll post the pic of Jeff and Michael with their shades and matching hats.  They are so cute. You can’t tell I’m pretty happy about having this little boy.  We are all so blessed to have him in our lives.

NO IDEA WHAT PICTURE THIS IS!!!!!

I had intended to print lots of pics for you to ooh and ahh about my finished projects and of course my dude Michael.  That is not going to happen.  And the photo, needless to say, is not my Michael..        The hat is the “dude” hat I did for my little dude.  The sweater was done months ago and no normal baby could wear it because you have to break the little things neck to get it on.  So, Charles the Cabbage Patch boy wears it instead.  The socks (I seem to be on a pink stripe kick) are ones finished in the last few weeks.  I’ll post more when I can figure this damn thing out.  Keep knitting friends.

THANK YOU DEAR FRIENDS

If you don’t have knitters for friends-better go find some.  Right now-go find those knitters.  In the past few weeks, my knitting buddies have been there for me in so many ways.  When I’ve been down, and I mean really down, they are there to hold my hand, give me hugs, and encourage me on.  I honestly don’t know how I would have handled the past months without all of them.  I can’t name them all but they know who they are.  Thanks for letting me ruin your dinner when my tears flowed, thanks for all the hugs, and most of all, thanks for being the best friends I’ve ever had.  Now go find your own knitters, you can’t have mine.

I’m still trying to rest up from The Knitters Connection.  What a fun time. If you get a chance to take a spinning class from Shannon Okey, jump right in there, even if you don’t want to learn to spin.  What fun we had.  Don’t let my partners in crime tell you I didn’t do well in the class. I was just pretending so the other students wouldn’t feel bad. ( Man, that lightening was pretty close.  I swear I’m not fibbing.)  Thanks to the two of you (and you know who you are) for helping me so much.  I did order a new Kiwi wheel.  I’m trying to convince Mike I won it in a drawing at the Connection but I’m pretty sure he’s not buying that little story. Tough stuff I say!!!!

See all of you later-promise pictures of all the socks I’ve finished and a couple of really cute hats for my baby Michael.

Again, thank you my knitting buddies, you are all the best.
