SHAWL REPORT #2

The shawl report for today is as follows:  Finished both long sides of the shawl.  Picked up one end and have done pattern for about 8 rows.   About five more to finish. This bottom thing is pure heaven after the sides.  On the sides you could knit for hours and only get one row done.  The top and bottom will fly and then I have to figure out how to block the thing.  Gerry and Beth are going to help me.  One little problem, there are some extra holes, big holes, as my little Mac got his puppy nails caught in the body of the shawl.  I know I shouldn’t let him sit on my lap when I knit but he is my little Mac afterall and he gets what he wants along with Murphy, Duncan and Brody.  I usually have all of them on me when I’m attempting to knit.  It’s a miracle everything is full of holes.

Please jump for joy with me as our new little Michael has gained lots of weight in the last week.  No weight gain and he was headed for more tests.  Formula is a good thing when baby isn’t gaining weight without it.  Grams has spoken.

THINK PINK!!!!!!

Think PINK fellow knitters, think PINK!!

First update on the PINK shawl.  After I swore to knit only socks, I’m being forced to finish my PINK shawl.  No names will be mentioned.  Of course I want to start another shawl and the unmentioned person is attemping to save me from myself.  Thanks for that-no really-thanks.

First update:  Day 1 Sunday-Finished one side of the shawl, bound off.

Now, I just have to remember how to pick up the stitches for the other side and have them going the right way.  Last time I tried it I ended up pulling it all out three times and with mohair that ain’t easy folks.  Today I’ll attempt to pick up 213 or so stitches and knit at least one row.  I don’t have a car today so that should be an easy task.  Sure it is!!!!!!!

More tomorrow on this interesting topic.

HELP ME!!!! HELP ME!!!!! GERRY IS GONNA’ GET ME!!!!!!

First, my two pairs of socks I completed this week.  The Easter color is done in Socks that Rock Barney Rubble.  Just did a slip stitch and they turned out really fun. The green pair (known as hairy legs) is done in Cider Moon w/mohair.  I did the feet in plain yarn after deciding I couldn’t get them on with the mohair. I haven’t the slightest idea what the color is.  They are cute and really warm.

I’m in big trouble with Gerry.  I haven’t finished that dang pink shawl.  I have done the first row of the ruffle and it takes forever to finish one row.  At least it isn’t in the basement yet.  I promised Gerry I’d finish it so we could have a pic made together (I’m blaming the delay on Beth as she hasn’t finished hers yet either.)  Anyway to make the entire thing even worse, I bought yarn today to do a (scarf, shawl, drape, I don’t know what in the heck it is) from the sale yarn at the Merc.  I had to promise Gerry I’d finish my pink  before I started the new one.  If I don’t keep my word she’ll probably beat the you-know-what out of me.  I promise again to finish it.  I’m just not promising when.

HERE’S MY BABY-JUST TURN YOUR HEAD TO SEE HIM

Isn’t Michael Blair the cutest little guy?  We’re all very proud of him.  His parents are going through those first awful weeks with no sleep and lots of worries.   He’ll be fine and they’ll look back and laugh at these first days.  Sure they will, I just tell them that to make then feel better.

Sorry I don’t know how to turn Michael right way up.  I’m not going to mess with the little success I have now.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Cry I’ve had enough of this cold weather.  I’m thinking about heading to Texas and stuffing myself with Bar-B-Q and tacos and then maybe, only maybe, will I be able to stand this cold.

I’ve been a knitting fool lately.  Could have something to do with the many trips we make to Pittsburgh to see Michael, aka, Booger Boy.   I knit a lot when I’m in the car with Mike.  It’s either knit or have a breakdown.  That man has forgotten there are speed limits.  I know he’s anxious to see Booger but if he doesn’t slow down we won’t see Booger again.  Anyway, the knitting, finished two pairs of socks and two hats this week. We went to the knit shop in Pittsburgh and Jeff found four things he wants for the baby.  You know what’s next on my list.  While there I bought two skeins of yarn for socks.  Yes I said more yarn for socks.  I’m trying to stick to knitting socks.  I do that well if I do say so myself.  I want to make a sweater but I know where it will end up so I won’t.  (can you say basement)  Socks and only socks from now on.

My Socks That Rock package came today.  It’s kind of clever with a binder, keychain with a skein of yarn, and of course the yarn and pattern.  The yarn is sort of drab grey and green.  It’s pretty but enough of drab. It reminds me of the  weather.  I’ll knit these suckers up and see how they look.

See ya later
